Be the first friendly faces runners see on race day, help keep things running smoothly, and soak up the event atmosphere together.
A fun and rewarding role that's perfect for groups looking to be at the heart of the action.
BOX CROSSINGS
Help keep race day running smoothly!
As part of the Box Crossings team, you'll assist spectators and the public at designated crossing points while helping ensure runners stay safe on course.
A great role for smaller groups who enjoy working together and interacting with people.
AID STATIONS
Keep runners fuelled and motivated!
As part of an Aid Station team, you'll hand out water, cheer runners on, and help create an incredible race-day experience.
A fun, high-energy role that's perfect for clubs, youth groups, and enthusiastic teams.

Group volunteering is a great way to get involved while raising funds, with £40 per volunteer or a free entry to a Motiv Sports event (including the new Shoreditch Run for group volunteers).

VOLUNTEER ROLES (8-11 JULY)
Race Pack Collection in the week before the London 10K - central
London (Saucony Shop)
Help runners get race-ready before the big day. Your role involves:

Issuing race numbers via iPad

Assigning and recording numbers for walk-ins

Answering questions from runners and spectators

Managing queues and keeping the area tidy

VOLUNTEER ROLES (12 JULY)
Start Zone Shift: 06:30 – 12:30
You'll be at the heart of the race-day buzz, helping runners start their race with confidence. You'll be fully briefed before your shift begins.
Your role involves:

Welcoming runners into the start zone
-
Directing runners to the correct pen based on their wave
-
Answering questions and keeping the pre-race energy high
-
Guiding runners from their pen to the start line
-
Keeping the area tidy between waves
-
Having fun — your energy sets the tone for the whole race!

Water Station (Pre-Start) Shift: 07:00 – 11:30
Help runners fuel up and feel ready before the race begins. You'll be fully briefed before your shift starts.
Your role involves:

Providing water and helping runners fill bottles
-
Directing runners to toilets, pens, and other pre-start facilities
-
Keeping the area tidy and running smoothly
-
Building a positive, energetic atmosphere at the start line
-
Having fun — your enthusiasm makes all the difference!

Shift: 07:00 – 12:00 | Working in pairs
Be one of the first faces runners see on race day, guiding them from nearby stations to where they need to be. You'll be fully briefed before your shift begins.
Your role involves:

Meeting runners and supporters arriving from nearby rail and tube stations
-
Directing people to baggage drop, start pens, toilets, and water stations
-
Monitoring foot traffic and redirecting where needed
-
Creating a welcoming, upbeat atmosphere from the moment people arrive

Bag Drop Shift: 07:00 – 13:30 | Group role
You're among the first and last people runners interact with on race day, your energy sets the tone. Ideal if you want to be right in the heart of the action.
Your role involves:

Greeting runners as they arrive
-
Accepting and organising bags into the correct sections
-
Returning bags efficiently after runners cross the finish line
-

Finish Area Shift: 07:30 – 13:30
Be at the emotional heart of race day, welcoming runners as they cross the finish line. You'll be fully briefed before your shift and working closely with other volunteers and staff.
Your role involves:

Cheering runners across the finish line and directing them toward medals, water, and snacks
-
Keeping the finish area moving smoothly and safely
-
Alerting staff if spectators enter the finish zone
-
Calling the medical team immediately if any runner appears unwell
-
Keeping the area tidy between waves
-
Soaking up the post-race atmosphere — it's the best part of the day!
You'll thrive in this role if you're:

VIP Hospitality Shift: 07:30 – 12:30
Be the warm welcome for our special guests, making their experience smooth and memorable from arrival to finish. You'll be fully briefed before your shift begins.
Your role involves:

Welcoming and looking after VIP guests throughout the day
-
Assisting with sign-in and bag drop on arrival
-
Keeping the hospitality area clean and presentable
-
Ensuring refreshments are topped up and available
-
Answering questions and providing directions as needed
-
Having fun and bringing great energy to the guest experience!

Lead Cyclist — 07:30 – 10:30 Ride ahead with your allocated runner, keeping pace and staying in contact with the event team via radio. Please NOTE you need to have your own bike.
Sweep Cyclist — 08:00 – 13:00 Ride at the rear of the event, supporting the last participants with directions and encouragement. Patience goes a long way in this role. Please NOTE you need to have your own bike.Medal Distribution Shift: 07:00 – 13:00
One of the most rewarding spots on the course — hand out medals to finishers and celebrate every single one of them.
Your role involves:

Handing out medals with energy and enthusiasm

Restocking medals and keeping the flow of runners moving

Staying alert for anyone who may need medical assistance and notifying your supervisor

Aid Stations Shift: 07:30 – 13:30 | Group role — 35 to 40 volunteers required
We reserve Aid Stations exclusively for volunteer groups. If you'd like to register a group — or share a station with another group — get in touch at volunteers@motivsports.co.uk.
Each volunteer earns £40 donated directly to your group's chosen cause.
Two stations on the route:

Info Point Shift: 07:15 – 12:30
Be the go-to guide for runners and spectators, keeping everyone informed and the event running smoothly. You'll be fully briefed before your shift begins.
Your role involves:

Welcoming runners and spectators and answering their questions
-
Directing people to baggage drop, the start, and other key areas
-
Helping with queries about race numbers and race packs
-
Keeping your area clean and tidy throughout the day
-
Spreading good energy — you set the tone for everyone around you!

Course Marshal sectors on the route (A–D) | You'll be fully briefed before your shift. Shift times are 08:00 - 13:00.
Keep runners safe, on course, and motivated from start to finish.
Your role involves:-
Cheering runners on — especially those at the back!

Directing runners along the correct route

Assisting injured or struggling participants
-
Engaging with spectators and helping with safe road crossings
-
Reporting any issues to Event Control
-
Being a visible, approachable point of contact throughout the race

WHAT SPECIFIC SKILLS ARE NEEDED TO VOLUNTEER?
For most of our volunteer roles, there is no need for any specific skills or experience. If there is a requirement it will be highlighted in the particular role.
However, please add any skills you think might be relevant to your registration form and we can allocate you a role most suitable to your skills.Volunteer Support & Briefings
We want every volunteer to feel confident and prepared on the day.
Before the event you'll receive:

A Volunteer Manual and role-specific briefing document.

An online briefing a few days before to answer questions and run through the day
On the day, your Team Leader will meet you on arrival, give you a full briefing, and be your main point of contact for breaks, wellbeing, and any questions throughout your shift.-
We do not have any parking available for staff or volunteers. we strongly advise you use public transport to get to the event.
Getting There
Most shifts start around 7am, so plan your journey in advance.
Use public transport — there is no onsite parking and road closures will be in place across the area on race day.

What to Wear
You'll be given a Motiv Sports volunteer bib on the day.
Please wear:

Dark trousers, leggings, or shorts

Comfortable closed-toe shoes or trainers (non-branded where possible)

It's an outdoor event — dress for changeable weather. Further guidance will be included in your Volunteer Manual.

On the Day
Make sure your Team Leader checks you in when you arrive — your attendance needs to be recorded.
At the end of the events season, you'll receive an invitation to register for your free race place. If you'd like to change your chosen event, log into your LDT account or email volunteers@motivsports.co.ukAll volunteers are entitled to claim up to £15 per day of volunteering. A form will be sent with the volunteer manual before the event.
