RUNNER INFORMATION
SAFETY MEASURES
The race start line will be open from 09:30–10:30, allowing all runners ample time to start the event whilst affording everyone a safe amount of space both pre-start, on the course, and post-finish.
All runners will receive an accurate race time from their timing chip, so please do not rush or overcrowd any pre-race areas to get to the start line.
If possible, please arrive ‘race ready,’ meaning you don’t need to drop a bag at our bag facility. This will reduce queues and give you a smoother route to the start line. If this is not possible, however, then please use the bag drop facility available for participants on the day.
Please respect your fellow runners and give one another plenty of space both in the start funnel and whilst out on the course.
We advise that you do not run if you are unwell, have an injury, or are not comfortable running at least 6 kilometres.
ON THE COURSE
Aid Stations
Volunteers will be handing out water at the two aid stations on the course, at approximately 6.25km and 8.75km.
6.25km - Water cups and a water bottle refill station.
8.75km - Water cups only.
We are completely plastic-free on the route, and all water is served in 100% recyclable cups. Please try to dispose of your cups into the large bins placed to the side of the road just after each aid station. Please only take one cup at a time. Cups that don’t make it into the bins are much harder to recycle, so we’re hoping you can all help us be as green as possible.
If you are not planning to take water, please try to keep to the opposite side of the road to allow other runners through. The water stations are long, so there’s no need to rush to the first table.
Track a Runner
Once the runners have crossed the start line, family, friends, and fans will be able to track participants throughout the route on the official Saucony London 10K App. This will be available to download via the Apple App Store & Google Play Store a week before the event.
Course Marshals
Look out for volunteers in their pink hi-vis positioned along the route and at key turning points, as well as cheering you on they will help with general directions for runners and spectators.
First Aid
The medical centre is located shortly after the finish line. Professional medical staff will be available here, as well as on the course and at the bag drop area. Medical staff will also be located at each of the aid stations, should a runner face difficulty. There will also be a medical information point located at the help desk should you have any concerns about a runner. If you feel unwell during the race, please stop and find your nearest race marshal or aid station.
Emergency Access
In the event of an emergency, runners will be asked to move to the side of the road to allow access for an emergency vehicle. Please follow any instructions given by course marshals, at all times.
Kilometre Markers
Each kilometre will be clearly marked on the route.
Measured Course
The course is measured and certified as accurate to 10km.
Pacers
A dream team of pacers will be helping to support and encourage you. Look out for them and their pacer flags in the start pens and when you’re out on the route. For a full pacer list and their respective times, see below.
UPDATE THIS ONCE CONFIRMED
Photography
Our friendly photographers at Marathon Photos will be taking your pictures on course, as well as at the finish line. Look out for the “smile for the camera” signs and be sure to give the photographers a wave or thumbs up if you’re feeling the love. We will send you a pre-race email with a link to invite your friends and family to view your photos as you run, plus an email with a link to purchase your photos after the event. Every time you pass a Marathon Photos photographer, you could have photos online within seconds.
Race Bib
You will either have received your race pack in the mail, or if you have opted for race pack collection, you will need to pick up your race bib from:
The Saucony Store - Covent Garden
4 James St, London WC2E 8BH
Race bib collection will be available:
Wednesday July 9 - Friday July 11 July: 12:00 - 19:00
Saturday 12 July: 10:00 - 18:00
If you can, please collect your bib at the start of the week to avoid queuing during busier times closer to race day. Don’t forget to bring your safety pins with you on race day.
NOTE: If you opted for race pack postage and it hasn’t arrived by Friday July 11, please visit the Saucony Store on Saturday to pick up a replacement.
Race Cut-Off
With thousands of you running, we need to manage the race timings carefully. Therefore, any runners going a little slower, who are predicted to finish after 12:15, may be asked to move to the pavement so that we can get London moving again! The sweep team will be there to support anyone post 12:15.
Race Day Entertainment
We have a fantastic line-up of live entertainment positioned all along the route to energise runners and keep spirits high for all. We strongly suggest running without headphones to hear any necessary emergency announcements and to soak up the incredible atmosphere.
Race Results
Results will be posted on the Saucony London 10K website after the race. If you entered a mobile number when you registered, you will also receive a text with your official race time when you finish.
Safety & Security
Throughout the planning of the Saucony London 10K, we’ve been working closely with the Metropolitan Police Service to ensure we keep everyone safe and secure. As well as our teams of staff and volunteers, we have over 400 security staff in position at all key areas and around the entire 10K race route. These security staff and police officers are there to help the day run smoothly.
Toilets
There will be toilet facilities positioned inside the bag drop area at Waterloo Place, as well as at the entrance to the start area at the bottom of St James’ Street. If you are not using bag drop on race morning, then please use the toilets at the start area on St James’s Street. There will also be toilets positioned at each aid station around the race route.
Timing Chip
Your timing chip, which accurately measures your time, is attached to your race number. Please do not remove, bend, fold, or cover the chip, as we will be unable to track your time. If your timing chip is bent in the post, visit the help desk on Sunday morning and we can provide you with a replacement.
Volunteers
The success of the Saucony London 10K relies on the time, energy, and support of hundreds of volunteers. If you, your friends, family, or colleagues would like to get involved in volunteering next year, keep an eye on our website under the Volunteering tab. Did you know you earn free entry to the following years event just for volunteering? Please do give a huge thank you to the volunteers when you see them.
Water Bottle Refill
We encourage you to consider managing your own hydration and running ‘self-sufficient’ by bringing a running water bottle. There will be water cups available at both aid stations on the race route; however, if you’d prefer to bring your own bottle, there will also be refill points before the start on St James’s Street and at the first aid station at 6.25km.
RACE NUMBER
Bag Drop & Help Desk Location: Waterloo Place, SW1Y 5ER
Arrival times
Please note that to avoid congestion in the area, participants have been allocated a specific time window to arrive to the event site, including the bag drop area at Waterloo Place. We encourage you to arrive race ready if you can. If you do not need to drop a bag you may proceed directly to your start pen at the time below. This is based upon your allocated start pen (printed on your race number):
Race warm-ups will start in your Pen 10 minutes before your Pen’s estimated start time.
Bag Drop
For this year we will be operating a reduced baggage facility to support us in reducing congestion pre- race, and are asking all runners, if possible, to arrive race ready and head straight to the start line when you arrive. However, if you need to bring a bag, the bag drop is located at Waterloo Place. Please review the bag drop time corresponding with your Pen in the table above. Once in the bag drop area, please visit the bay that corresponds to your race number.
Please note that any bag dropped at the bag drop must be a maximum of 45cm x 45cm x 25cm (normal backpack size). Larger bags, holdalls and any size suitcase, will not be accepted. Random bag checks will also be in operation on event day by our security team – please follow all instructions if asked by one of our team.
If you purchased race pack postage, you will receive your race number pre-event and can head straight to the start line on the day. If you are collecting your race number, please find details of how to collect this on page 18. Your race number includes a tear off bag tag that matches your race number. Please detach this slip and attach it to your bag by looping it through the hole in the tag as instructed. Please do this prior to your arrival on the day to minimise queuing time at bag drop. We advise runners not to arrive any earlier than their allocated arrival time.
What is Race Ready?
In order to help congestion at the baggage area we are asking our amazing runners to arrive race ready. Race ready simply means to arrive with no bag and head straight to the start line. This will speed up the start process and will make sure our runners all start on time!
With record numbers again this year, the area will be very busy, we strongly recommend not bringing a bag and avoiding using the bag drop by arriving ready to go. You could ask a friend to look after your belongings whilst you run. If you do need to use Waterloo Place bag drop, please arrive within your allocated time slot to ensure you are able to drop a bag. Please be patient if there is a short queue to access the bag drop area - we will manage the capacity of the area closely on event day.
Toilets
We will have a small quantity of toilets located in Waterloo Place for runners to use after dropping their bags. If you don’t need to drop a bag you can skip the queues at Waterloo Place and make your way to the bottom of St James’s Street where you will find additional toilets.
Start Area
Please make sure you don’t make your way to the start area any earlier than your allocated arrival time as you may not be able to access the area until your allocated slot time. Volunteers will be positioned along the way to help with any queries. Please note that if you would like to run with a friend who has been allocated a different start time, you may move back to a later time, but do not arrive any earlier than you’ve been allocated.
We will be operating a staggered start process again for 2025 meaning our start line is open for 1 hour. Your race doesn’t start until you cross the start line, so there’s no need to rush. Give your fellow runners plenty of space and we’ll get you all across the line safely.
Walking To The Start
Look out for volunteers who will be able to help with directions.
Warm-Ups
As you move through our start area towards the start line our MCs will be keeping you entertained and you will be taken through a warm up by Runna before you start the race.
